THE Operation Headlight and Helmet On (H2On), jointly launched by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in coordination with the local police's Traffic Division, apprehended 687 violators in a span of two nights.
LTO-Zamboanga Peninsula Director Aminola Abaton, in a report to Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, said the operation was an offshoot of Salazar's thrusts prioritizing peace and order.
The intensive operations conducted for two straight nights, from July 5 to 6, included traffic violations such as non-installation of stop lights, side mirror, headlight and muffler that yielded a total of 181 violators.
Operations against non-wearing of helmets also netted a total of 181 apprehensions, Abaton said.
The other violations included driving without license, driving with expired license, student permit not accompanied by a professional driver, non-carrying of Official Receipt/Certificate of Registration, obstruction, colorum, no capacity marking, discourteous driver, no early warning device, driving with slippers, no seatbelt and top loading. About 344 were apprehended for these violations.
Abaton assured that his office will continue to implement the campaign to help keep the streets of Zamboanga City orderly. (Bong Garcia)
