Oplan Kalinaw rounds up 1,753 persons in single day

OPLAN Kalinaw, or the regular joint Area Security, Community Service and Protection Operation Plan of the local authorities, rounded up a total of 1,753 individuals who underwent profiling and arrested 16 wanted personalities during simultaneous operations on Tuesday, March 27.

Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director, said the series of operations resulted in the identity or background check and profiling of the residents of identified barangays in the city.

Of the 1,753, a total of 1,615 persons showed their IDs and 138 were without IDs.

Security forces also nabbed wanted persons who have standing warrants of arrest for various criminal cases.

Arrested were: Rasulo P. Inso Jr., Mernel S. Cataquil and Virgil I. Sabarre for robbery with violence against person; Solamo Edgar Balanay for violation of Section 11 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act; Dave John Batuon for RA 9287 violation; Carlito Tipait Linasa for PD 449; Junmar Bajao Loon for PD 1602; Anthony Roxas Luna for PD 449; Bryan Laguna Solis for PD 449.

Also apprehended were Randy Navarro Ricalido for violation of Section 261 of Omnibus Election Code (Liquor Ban); Quegie Mantos Asna for theft; Creselda Cerin for BP22; Kathleen Dominique T. Aliño for SSS Law; George Verano for murder; Vincent Villapaz Morales for reckless imprudence resulting to serious physical injuries and damage to property and Eva Jeolin for PD 1602.

It was launched in coordination with local security forces and law enforcement units led by DCPO with Task Force Davao (TFD), Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB 11), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG 11), Regional Maritime Unit (RMU 11), National Intelligence ad Coordinating Agency (NICA 11), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP 11), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG 11) and Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU 11).

Representatives of the Rehabilitation Center for Drug Dependents (RCDD), Police Regional Office (PRO 11) and Health Center and City Health Office (Davao) were also present during the operation.

The improved operation of the uniformed personnel is a comprehensive plan that includes identity/background check and profiling of transient residents in our urban poor communities in the city; manhunt operation/ arrest of wanted persons/ fugitives hiding in these communities; community outreach/free medical check-up and giving of medicines and vitamins, and community empowerment through crime prevention education, and community service and protection operations.

Areas that benefited from these operations were Police Station (PS1) Boyayang, Barangay 14-B particularly at the back of Holy Cross PME Bldg; PS2 (Purok 12, St. John, Bucana); PS3 (del Carmen Seaside, Matina Aplaya); PS4 (San Antonio de Padua, Km. 10, Sasa; PS5 (Orchids St., Buhangin); PS6 (Punong Uno, Bunawan); PS8 (Purok 1, Lubogan, Toril); PS9 (Sitio Biao Tinda, Barangay Ula, Tugbok District); and PS10 (Purok 2, Barangay Subasta, Calinan District).

Meanwhile, a total of 550 residents availed of the free medical check-up while 436 received free medicines and vitamins.
