CAGAYAN de Oro City's lawn tennis ace Francis Casey Alcantara is now Philippine's number one in the recent release of the Philippine Lawn Tennis Association’s player rankings.
The 24-year-old Alcantara got a push from all of his campaigns abroad in various International Tennis Federation (ITF) sanctioned tournaments.
He now soared to 875th since breaking the top-1000 through his impressive performance last year.
The Kagay-anon had a push in his rankings after pulling impressive results in different ITF Futures Tournaments, including an upset victory over Chinese number three Zhe Li in the first round of the Australian Open Asia-Pacific Wildcard Playoffs last December in Zhuhai, China.
Veteran netter Ruben Gonzales takes second place at 923, though he had a career high of 766 in May 2013.
Johnny Arcilla slid to third from number two in the Philta ranks at 1474.
Iligan City pride Jeson Petrombon is fifth in Philta but the ITF’s third highest ranked at 1176.
The 23-year-old Petrombon scored a career best at 869th in August 2012.
