Oro’s Mumma among the country’s best

ONE Championship named Cagayan de Oro City’s Mindanao Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts (MUMMA) as top 5 best performing martial arts gym in the Philippines.

One Championship, Asia’s premier international mixed martial arts entertainment, recently bared this with the top four came from Luzon region.

Lakay Gym of Baguio City was named as the most top performing gym followed by Alliance Gym in Quezon City, Catalan Fighting System and Elorde Gym in Metro Manila for second to fourth places, respectively.

MUMMA, situated near Cogon Market, hang in the fifth spot and marked as the best among the Visayas and Mindanao islands.

“I was shocked that we were named at top 5 and I never expected this that MUMMA would be named by One Championship,” said Beh Barothy Hung, owner and manager of MUMMA.

Recently, its prized fighters brought home pride in the city in different international fights.

Ely Fernandez last year won medals in the World Muay Thai Boran in Thailand and WAKO Asian kickboxing championships in Turkmenistan.

Rex de Lara is one of MUMMA’s decorated fighters. He was a former URCC bantamweight champion and PXC bantamweight contender.

Victor Torre is among them as he is the current GTC flyweight champion and former URCC pinweight champion.

MUMMA also has its promising One Championship bet in the person of Rabin Catalan.

It has also Rocky Batolbatol as its trophy fighter in Brazilian Jiujitsu.

“Daghan pa sila nga dili nako manganlan, but we are proud of everybody in the gym for making MUMMA to the top,” said Hung.
