Oro’s 'narco cop' dismissed from service

AN OFFICIAL of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao on Thursday, August 24, said the Cagayan de Oro City policeman arrested for his involvement in illegal drug trade has been automatically dismissed from police service.

Superintendent Lemuel Gonda, PRO-Northern Mindanao spokesperson, said after the arrest of Police Officer 2 Arnold Almansor, a summary hearing proceedings for administrative case was immediately conducted in Camp Alagar.

"Dili na siya kinahanglan ipatunga sa summary proceedings. Na-detain na siya, diretso na siya dismissed kay baligya og droga man," Gonda said.

Gonda said the suspect must also surrender his issued firearm.

Gonda said authorities are following Almansor's illegal drug activities after the suspect intentionally altered his urine sample during the previous drug test.

"Dugay nana siya gimonitor. Giimbestigahan pud na siya kay ang iyang gi-submit nga sample sa ihi sa drug test sauna gi-alter niya, iyang gisagulan og tubig," Gonda said.

The police pressed drug charges against Almansor before the provincial prosecutor's office on Thursday, August 24.

The drug bust on Wednesday, August 23, against Almansor yielded some 12 sachets of suspected shabu worth around P18,000.

More than half a million pesos worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," were seized by the city drug enforcement and intelligence units of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office from two big time drug suspects in Balulang village, Cagayan de Oro City, Wednesday night.

The joint forces of the City Drug Enforcement Units and City Intelligence Units (CIU) have arrested the suspects identified as Sadam Sumagayan, 27, and his 20-year-old younger brother Saidemin Sumagayan.

By virtue of search warrant issued by a local court, authorities pounced on them and seized six sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 84 grams and roughly worth P506,940.

CIU head Chief Inspector Ariel Philip Pontillas said the siblings had already previous drug cases.

"Si Saide nadakpan for selling drugs sauna nga minor pa gibutang sa Tahanan pero niikyas unya nadakpan utro pero na dismiss ang kaso pagkasunod sa hall of justice. Si Sadam nadakpan sa PDEA sauna pero na-dismiss gihapon ang kaso," Pontillas said.

Pontillas said a drug suspect arrested in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental April this year has pointed to the Sumagayan brothers as his alleged source of drugs.

Pontillas said the older Sumagayan has been monitored to have been supplying illegal drugs in the city.

"Iyang operation ani is Bugo to city level," Pontillas said.

The CIU chief said the suspects have the capacity to dispose a minimum of 50 grams of shabu that they sourced out from Iligan City.

"Ang last niya ingon is Iligan City pero posible apil na pud na sa Marawi and other areas in Lanao,"Pontillas said.

The suspects will be charged with possession of illegal drugs.

Almanzor's live-in partner Grace Salvador was also arrested.

"Kasama ang live-in partner niya kinasuhan dahil nung pagbili ng ating personnel from PDEU who acted as posuer buyer, yung live-in partner niya ang nag-abot ng isang sachet dun kay PO2 Almanzor," Senior Inspector Corinne Mae Estigoy, spokesperson of the provincial police office, said.
