Over 40 entries join bodybuilding, physique tilt

OVER 40 bodybuilders are expected to compete in the second Philippine Committe of Bodybuilding and Fitness (PCBF) MAT Mindanao Regionals 2016 Men's Bodybuilding and Physique that will get underway on Oct. 22 in still undetermined venue.

PCBF and I.Flex event manager Florence Lynne Diez, during Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum, at the NCCC B3 Center Lanes Family Room, said that participants from Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, and Iligan will also compete.

"We already have 16 early registrants, six entries from the body building category while 10 in physique category," Diez said.

Categories entered in men's physique category are short (5'7 below) and tall (5'7 above) while in bodybuilding will be 65-kilograms below, 70-kg below and 70-above.

Diez also said that they will also conduct a bodybuilding and physique workshop at 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. while the competition proper is slated at 3 p.m. onwards.

"The workshop will cover basic education of bodybuilding as well as promote its use to our bodybuilders."

The registration fee for workshop with competition is pegged at P1,600 while entry fee is P1,000 and workshop only is also P1,000.

Diez added that they will not give away cash prizes for the winners but promised to shoulder their plane tickets and registration fees for the upcoming Shawn Rhoden Classic event on October 29.

"I.Flex president Marco Tamayo usually gives big cash prizes in Kadayawan bodybuilding events, but not for this event since gusto niya mas mag focus ang winners sa national and international events as they will be representing Mindanao," Diez said.

I.Flex under president Marco Tamayo, PCBF headed by executive director Samuel Solon, Tamayo Brothers Teach Fit, Ticketized Travel and Tours and P.N. Ninte metal advanced products are backing up the event.
