ANTI-NARCOTICS operatives recovered 100 grams of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth more than P1 million hidden in a sewer at 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, in Barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion town, Cebu.
Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, the town police commander, said suspected pusher Cris Mata Ortega cooperated with them and divulged where his group placed the contraband.
Ortega, 35, was caught with his alleged cohorts Jenny Montesioso Jaime, 32, and Geran Dela Victoria Ligan, 29, in a drug bust at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in Pulpogan.
Five small packs of shabu worth P1,700, a Dangerous Drugs Board value, were seized by the Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit led by Senior Police Officer 1 Leoben Sebomit.
During an interview with the operatives, Ortega admitted they hid four big packs of shabu in a sewer.
Pelare said the contraband was about to be distributed in Danao City and neighboring areas.
Despite his admission, Ortega and his cohorts will be charged for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which sets no bail for persons caught selling shabu. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
