P242,000 stolen by robbers in 2 strikes

AN ESTIMATED P188,000 worth of cash and two checks amounting to P54,000 were stolen by unidentified men in separate incidents in Negros Occidental on Tuesday.

In Kabankalan City, three men were robbed by four unidentified men at Barangay Tabugon.

Police identified the victims as salesman Gilbert Barodi, 41, helper Richard Rosal, 40, and truck driver Jose Benjie Tingson.

Superintendent Rhea Santos, chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the three victims were delivering liquors to a store when three of the four robbers on board a motorcycle threatened them at gunpoint.

The assailants then carted away their collection worth P160,000 and a cellular phone.

In E.B. Magalona town, Oliver Bala-od and his three friends were robbed by three unidentified men at Hacienda Sidlangan, Barangay San Isidro.

Senior Inspector Bonifacio Aral, town police chief, said Bala-od and his friends were on their way home when the robbers blocked them.

The robbers, who were armed with guns, took Bala-od’s money amounting to P28,000 and two checks amounting to P14,000 and P40,000 each.

One of the three suspects were later identified by the police.

Before to the incident, Aral said the robbers went to the house of the Bala-od’s father and fired at him but he was not harmed.

Police are eyeing grudge as the motive.
