P322,000 worth of fake beauty items seized

AN ESTIMATED of P322,963 worth of fake beauty products were confiscated during a raid at two business establishments in downtown Bacolod City, Thursday morning.

Chief Inspector Benedict Poblete, deputy chief of Regional Special Operations Task Group (RSOTG), said they were acting on the search warrants issued by a judge in Makati City against Juan Chan and Romualdo Chan, owners of Ysabelle Celine Fashion Shop and YYK Trade Fashion Accessories, respectively.

About 7,306 fake bottles of lotion, shampoos and soaps amounting to P127,963 were recovered from Ysabelle Celine Fashion Shop; while 644 pieces of the same fake items amounting to P195,000 were also confiscated from YYK Trade Fashion Accessories.

The owners were not around during the raid but they may face charges for trademark infringement.

Poblete said the two stores were placed under surveillance by the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) after the Directorate for Intelligence of the Philippine National Police in Camp Crame received a report about the sale of fake products in the city.

They believed that the items came from their suppliers abroad, Poblete said.

The confiscated items are now in the custody of RIU.

The raid was a joint operation of RSOTG and RIU together with the Negros Occidental Provincial Public Safety Company.
