P4-M target in NCCC's 3-day Kanegosyo congress

THE New City Commercial Corp. (NCCC) Supermarket targets to generate over P4 million in sales and revenues during the three-day Kanegosyo Congress that formally started Thursday and will run until Saturday, September 17, at the Kadayawan Hall of NCCC Mall Davao.

NCCC Supermarket vice president for retail Jojo Canda told reporters Thursday at the sidelines of Kanegosyo Congress opening ceremony that they eye some 10 to 20 percent hike this year based on last year's sales at around P3 to P4 million.

The biggest discount fair in Davao Region is expected gather some 8,000 NCCC business partners and rewards club members.

Canda said that they started with only around 2,000 members of Kanegosyo way back 17 years ago.

The congress is being attended by some 60 exhibitors who offer exclusive discounts up to 30 percent and great deals on product bundles.

Canda also said they expecting some 3,000 clients to visit the discount fair.

Also, seminars focused on strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will be staged during the congress.

Davao City Councilor Pilar Braga, who graced the event, lauded the homegrown company's generous sharing of knowledge in the basic of business that greatly contributed to the economic empowerment of both the retailers and wholesalers in this city.

"This has helped the economic growth of Davao as this meant a move to a lively and promising entrepreneurial consciousness among communities giving sectors opportunities to become productive," Braga said.

Canda, when asked on the importance of staging an annual Kanegosyo Congress, said establishing relationship with its loyal customers is a top priority.

"We want treat them as partners in the business. This (Kanegosyo) is very important because it is our way of acknowledging and thanking our customers for being loyal to us," Canda said.

In an earlier interview, Canda said that Kanegosyo partners contributed around 30 percent of the total company’s income.

This year's congress has a "United Nations" theme.

Pepsi Corporation exhibitor Jessa Lumayas, for her part, said that it is their second year of attending the Kanegosyo Congress and that they enjoy the experience.

When asked to compare their experience last year from this year, they said last year was fun but this year is a whole new level as they are able to meet a lot more customers who are easy to get along with.

According to them, the event helps them boost their self-confidence despite the difficulties they encounter in dealing with different personalities of the customers. They also said that the event helps boost the sales of their products and make their product known by doing a buy 1 take 1 offer. (With reports from Joedelle Marie Brigoli Israel, ADDU intern)
