P50,000 reward up for retired colonel’s killer

ASIPULO, Ifugao -- A P50,000 reward awaits to any person who could provide information that will lead to the arrest of the killer of a retired Philippine Air Force official last month.

Through Resolution 2017, passed by the 15 Municipal Council members, the bounty will be given the person behind the killing retired Colonel Oscar Ibarra Jr.

Ibarra, a biking enthusiast and resident of Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya, visited the municipality on February 14 and was advised by police to avoid going farther from the Poblacion due to a recent encounter between the New People’s Army and Philippine Army. However, he proceeded towards the encounter site where he was shot.

“We are appealing to the public who has any information to surface and give the needed information in the name of truth and concern for the safety and honor of the Asipulo people,” the resolution stated.

The resolution also condemned the killing of Ibarra.

“The municipal officials and residents of the municipality, being peace- loving people as enunciated in the Asipulo hymn were shocked of this untoward incident especially that it involved someone who merely wanted to leisurely spend his time in our beloved town,” it stated. (PIA)
