P7.5-M aid for Roxas bomb victims set for livelihood

THE 18th Davao City Council is set to approve the request of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to use P7.5 million from the trust fund of the Roxas Night Market bombing victims to finance their livelihood programs and medical assistance.

Davao City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang said during the Pulong Pulong ni Pulong (PPP) held at Councilor’s Lounge, Sangguniang Panlungsod Building that the Office of the City Mayor will use the P4.5 million of the trust fund for livelihood programs while the remaining P3 million will be used to fund medicines and hospitalization of 11 victims.

“Yung 11 yung iba nito ay ongoing ang therapy binabayaran pa ng city ito hanggang ngayon (Some of these 11 victims have ongoing therapy that the city pays until now) and there is also this victim who needs a re-operation, some of these are those who have fracture which still needs medicinal (support),” he said.

He added that the livelihood program of the victims will be spearheaded by the City Social Services and Development Office.

Dayanghirang added that they are still waiting for the program design to approve an ordinance that will allow the mayor to utilize the fund.

“The committee will favorably endorse this we are just asking the program design because we have to get the program design consistent to the ordinance which is very important also,” he added.

The councilor said all the donations were recorded by the City Accounting Office and the City Budget Office.

He also said aside from livelihood, educational programs will also be made available for the victims of the blast and their families.
