Pa, son yield guns, ammos, explosive

SEVERAL firearms, ammunition, and an explosive were seized by police operatives from father and son in a raid at Purok Mataba, Crossing Balo, Barangay Magballo in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.

Superintendent Rhea Santos, city police chief, identified the suspects as Rommel Villarosa, 46, and Romnick Villarosa, 23.

Joint operatives of City Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod, CIDG-Negros Occidental, Negros Occidental Provincial Maneuver Force Company, and Kabankalan City Police Station raided the Villarosa residence at 6:40 a.m.

They served a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosives issued by Judge Jose Manuela Lopez of Municipal Trial Court in Cities in Kabankalan City.

Police recovered from the elder Villarosa a 12-gauge shotgun; 19 live ammunition, and three fired cartridges of 12 gauge shotgun, MK 4 .45 caliber pistol; two magazines, two fired cartridges, and 55 live ammunition of .45 caliber pistol; an STI .45 caliber pistol; and a fragmented hand grenade.

Confiscated by authorities inside the house of the younger Villarosa were a .9mm caliber, magazine, and six live ammunition of the same firearms; .38 caliber revolver; and six live ammunition of .38 caliber revolver.

The younger Villarosa was arrested after he was caught inside the compound also possessing illegal firearms and ammunition.

Both suspects are detained at CIDG-Bacolod headquarters.
