Pacete: Comedy in political prophecy

JUST for fun. “La Mesa de La Libertad” in our favorite coffee shop in Silay could be a source of accurate political forecast as proven in the previous elections. Here, we have the conclave of coffee devotees whose members patronize native brewed coffee. I almost belong here as “honorary member” only.

The associates belonging to the conclave are legitimate businessmen, assistants of politicians, retired personalities, street event analysts, and avid coffee drinkers. The long table looks like the scene from the “Last Supper” of Jesus Christ when all the members are present.

Topics discussed could run from small gossips up to big events including the sexual maladies of some politicians in Negros plus their latest cases in the Ombudsman or Supreme Court.

If there is no serious thought for the day, the conclave may take into consideration topics like the fate of bet collectors, the frustration in the cockfighting arena, petty crimes in the community, or the policemen involved in the illegal drug transaction… or the involvement of the mayors and their second ladies in the affairs of the state. The conclave makes analysis also if who are the “gay butterfly candidates” who shifted loyalty from one party to the other just to evade the wrath of President Digong.

Like Nostradamus, the honorable members of the conclave have made their own foretelling. “In the Province of Sugar Barons, the Old shall go down and the young of two may go up but one other than the two will remain after the split to reap the harvest.” Your guess is good as ours. It is perceived that the “Old” has nowhere to go but down. Who are the “two” who could be young… and the one who will remain after the split? Since there is a split for the two, who will stay in the province and where will the other one go? Who is this other one who will reap the harvest?

Politics in Negros could be interesting if we base it on prophecy as foretold in “La Mesa de La Libertad.” Names are not mentioned here but if you are from Negros you will easily digest how things are proceeding to their end.

“And the many new shall spread their wings towards the open sea to land in the midst of future towers where power nests.”

Any political analyst can paraphrase that. Just like in the “Game of Thrones,” the leadership in Negros is open and it all depends on what the Negrosanons want.

Bacolod City could be another colorful political kingdom. “The ruler floats puzzled by a rainbow with fancy colors. To what end shall he go, no one knows. The alternatives await with disgust for the nucleus so near. The others… undecided wait for the time. The Bay’s option could be the choice of the outsider.”

It is anybody’s game for Bacolod in 2019. Some have entrenched themselves so well in high places. The oracle mentions of rainbow with fancy colors and this should be understood as an entertaining destruction. The leadership has to take a choice… and whatever is taken, the voters will know what to do. If something happens in the political orbit of Bacolod, the “alternatives” are just waiting for their chance. As of press time, these “alternatives” are still sitting down with their political guru.

Politics in Bacolod is palatable. There are old rich who are just waiting for the opening of the wormhole so that they can penetrate in the inner sanctum. The new rich who could be Chinoys will have a political horse for their own kind considering that the Digong administration has soft spot for China. If economic machines do not malfunction, we will have Dutertenomics here in Bacolod with a dragon dance. “Who is this “outsider” that could be a game changer?

Outside – Negros investors are here with their mothership anchored in Bacolod City and they are competing with our local rich. This could be good for employment but the invasion of Bacolod and Negros could possibly mean a change in leadership and political landscape. The “Bay’s option” is important in the making of a leader in Bacolod. The anointed could be retained or a “black horse” could be unleashed. This horse is not threatened by the “fancy colors of the rainbow.”

Big cities like San Carlos, Sagay, Silay, Talisay, Victorias, Bago, Kabankalan and Sipalay will definitely get inside the Duternomics circle. The sway of political membership is very important for the survival of “Negros Political Titanics.” Things are not what they seem. The prophecy is coming to reality. “One-island, One-region” is no more.

What is next? What is the role of Negros in federalism? Negros haciendas are fast disintegrating. We are being urbanized. In “La Mesa de La Libertad,” the fate of Negros and its politics of survival could be the next good topic.
