Pagasa: More rain expected in Davao Region

THE Davao Region will have rainshower and thunderstorms in the next few days due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) which will affect Mindanao and eastern part of Visayas, the state weather bureau reported.

Latest weather update of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that ITCZ will likely to affect Mindanao and Visayas’ eastern part on September 18 to 19.

Pagasa-Davao weather observer Paz Rosas confirmed the presence of the ITCZ. She said the weather will bring cloudy skies and scattered moderate rain and thunderstorm to Southern Mindanao, including Davao.

The ITCZ, Rosas, said is also affecting Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm), Soccsksargen, Zamboanga, and Bukidnon, while the other parts of Mindanao will only have light rains and thunderstorms.

"We encourage those living near the rivers and areas na medyo mababa to exercise vigilance lang sa panahon na tag-ulan, and for everybody to bring umbrellas, or raincoats and jackets para iwas sakit," Paz said.

Pagasa said the Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Meanwhile, a humid weather condition is expected over most parts of northern Luzon due to a ridge of high pressure area which will prevail over extreme Northern Luzon by Wednesday, September 20.

For the rest of the country it will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Pagasa said this weather scenario is expected to persist until Friday. (ICT)
