Pagcor gives P5-M aid for blast victims

ALTHOUGH it is clear that no money can compensate for a life, financial assistance continue to pour to victims of the Roxas Night Market blast as an expression of support.

After the City Government of Davao, Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) and President Rodrigo Duterte gave cash assistance, the Philippine Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) also donated P5 million to shoulder the medicines and hospital expenses of the more than 80 victims of the bombing.

Pagcor vice-president for Community Affairs Arnel Ignacio has given personally the P5 million cheque to Davao City Administrator Zuleika Lopez who represented Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Ignacio said Pagcor's thrust is to provide assistance to whoever needs a helping hand.

The deadly blast that killed 15 and injured 69 others shocked the whole country but expressed trust that Dabawenyos could "stand from where they fall."
