Palace on Binay's upcoming 'true' Sona: 'E di wow'

"E di wow."

This was the reaction of Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda on the promise of Vice President Jejomar Binay to deliver a "statesman" State of the Nation Address (Sona).

Binay, who attended President Benigno Aquino III's Sona last Monday at the House of Representatives, refused to give any comment on the Chief Executive's more than two-hour speech.

Instead, the Vice President said he would issue a statement in due time.

He vowed to come up with his own "true" Sona.

Binay's camp even branded Aquino's Sona as "un-statesmanlike" because of his criticisms against those perceived enemies of the administration.

"Siguro tingnan muna niya sarili niya sa salamin, at gayahin niyang ginagawa ni Boy Abunda," Lacierda said in answer to the "un-statesmanlike" description of Binay's camp on the President.

He added that it would be up to Binay if he wanted to deliver his own speech.

But he challenged the Vice President to make sure that whatever he would say, it would be backed up by data.

Lacierda said the President's Sona is supported by a technical report "that is put out for everyone to see."

"It’s up to the Vice President whatever he wants to quote. He wants to quote from Andersen’s Fairy Tales, it’s up to him," he said. (SDR/Sunnex)
