Palicte beats Rodriguez to retain NABF crown

Aston Francis Palicte of Bago City, Negros Occidental successfully defended his North American Boxing Federation (NABF) super flyweight title and extended his record to 24 wins and pair of losses with 24 knockouts.

This, after his fifth round stoppage of Mexican Jose Alfredo Rodriguez (32 wins and 7 defeats) last Saturday at the Round Rock Sports Center in Texas, USA.

Rodriguez came out aggressive in the opening round as Palicte tried to read his challenger’s game plan.

The 26-year-old Palicte is also the reigning World Boxing Inter-Continental super flyweight, which he won against Oscar Cantu via split decision in Las Vegas December of last year.

Also in the same year, Palicte captured the International Boxing Federation Pan Pacific super flyweight title against Vergilio Silvano. (HGD)
