Pampanga students get school supplies, tax orientation

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Some 150 students of San Nicolas Integrated School received bags and school supplies from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Region 4 as part of their tax information campaign program for the youth sector.

Regional Director Jethro Sabariaga led the orientation and distribution with BIR officials.

Sabariaga said that it is essential to start a tax orientation among the young to develop a more positive outlook among the younger sector on how taxes work for the country and a community.

He added that the students would sooner or later become productive members of the community and as such would need to be acquainted with the basics of taxation.

Included in the said event was an overview on how taxes run the government and services are funded from tax money.

Some of the concepts were discussed through a speech delivered by one of the winners of the BIR's essay writing contest.

Recently, the campaign also visited San Carlos Elementary School in San Luis and Bahay Pare Elementary School in Candaba town as well as Archbishop Emilio Cinense Memorial School in Barangay San Felipe.
