Pangan: Command responsibility

POLICE Director General Ronald dela Rosa should be made to account for the behavior and actuations of one of his subordinates, Superintendent Maria Cristina Nobleza who was apprehended in a checkpoint in Clarin town, Bohol and caught with some of the state's enemies, the ASG members.

It was reported that Superintendent Nobleza was romantically involved with one Renierlo Dongon, an ASG member and an alleged bomb expert. She was apparently already sleeping with the enemy, a no-no in military norm.

No wonder the ASG members are tipped off in advance of the military operations allowing them to elude arrest. How many more are there in the mold of Nobleza who spills out military confidential info, thus frustrating all plans of the military and endangering the lives of the soldiers?

Gen. dela Rosa, for all his boasts and bluster should conduct posthaste a deep and wide loyalty and background check on all his men and women to weed out the "traitors" in his organization.

Even the best thought-of of plans of dela Rosa will always be unsuccessful if there are subalterns who sabotage it.

The flamboyant police director general should stop and ponder seriously how much of his intelligence operations are imperiled by his traitorous officers and men.

The Asean summit (50th year) and its other adjunct events merit our security consciousness although some observers say it may be an overkill.

The security of the Asean leaders, their spouses and other members of their delegations deserves our foremost focus and dedication in order to give the attendees the impression that going to the Philippines is not risky and bad after all.

It happened that they were all cared for and treated well.

When the summit ended, the attendees have nothing but praises for the organizers who did a good job for the visitors.

It was the Philippine's chairmanship of the Asean this year and therefore we should have taken full advantage of the event to ventilate all the issues affecting us, including the West Philippine sea.

Another important event we will host in November is the Asean leaders meeting of 18 countries-10 Asean and 8 others-the US, Russia, China, India, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea.
