Pangan: Mayor Garbo: A legacy of accomplishments

ONLY seven months into his term as the duly-installed city mayor, former Board Member Crisostomo C. Garbo has already met with thousands of Mabalaquenos calling on his office for various reasons: solicitations, weddings, confined patients, medical bills, burial and financial assistance and others. He has, therefore, wanted to institutionalize the foregoing services so that the succeeding administrations would be, by law, compelled to implement them.

Already, he has purchased new firetrucks, ambulances for 10 barangays, garbage trucks for three barangays and service vehicles for almost all the departments in the city government. In addition, he plans to establish the central police and fire stations in Barangay Mabiga where he also plans to set up the new City Government center. The City Government will fund the construction of the same with additional funding probably coming from the Capitol and bank loans.

Corollary to these, he also made known his plans to restore the old city hall and the police station at Barangay Poblacion, which structures sorely need massive facelifting.

All sectors of the populace were attended to by Mayor Cris, including the social pensions of the senior citizens. In his regular meetings with employees and key officials, namely: City Administrator Rosan A. Paquia, Executive Assistant Patrick Fiel Sacay, Legal Officer, Atty. Emmanuel E. Ignacio, City Accountant, Atty. Aileen C. Rigor, CPA and Acting City Budget Officer Narce P. Paquia, Mayor Cris threshes out all the problems confronting the city operations including, lately, the mounting electric bill with PELCO II, the movements (promotions) of employees, MAGEA and the cooperative development office. Several things are tackled in the frequest meetings between the mayor and the city officials.

The feeding program of Mayor Cris Garbo is now well-known and is conducted regularly to take care of the needs of undernourished and even malnourished children.

All in all, the flagship projects of Mayor Garbo consist of the new city hall in Mabiga, the Mabalacat City Womens and Wellness Center in Mawaque and the Mabalacat City Animal Bite Center.

The on-going structures are the Mabalacat City Manpower and Training Center in Mawaque/Sapang Biabas and the PWD Livelihood Center in Sapang Biabas.

The old tiles at the City Hall in Xevera are now being replaced with sturdy ones.

In the first two months of 2018, the income from taxes (business income and realty) reached more than P35 million already, an indication that Mabalaquenos are foursquare behind Garbo's administration and more have manifested admiration for it for the well-run and well-managed city government. This may well be an addition to Mayor Garbo's legacy.
