Parents learn math techniques to guide their kids

GALILEO Enrichment Learning Program, an after-school enrichment program for children, ages 3 to 12, and the first enrichment program to offer Singapore Math in the country, held the workshop “Galileo Math Hacks” last July 11 and 12 at the Bright Kids School in Bacolod City.

Parents together with their children learned a new approach and deeper understanding of math concepts on how to solve seemingly difficult math problems.

Galileo Math Hacks was facilitated by Teacher Beth Lamis, operations and training head of Galileo Enrichment Learning Program.

Parents were taught how they can support their children and be more involved in their learning. Teacher Beth also taught parents a few strategies they can use at home to help their children with their lessons and homeworks.

The workshop also featured various games and activities for children that parents may incorporate when they are helping their child in math.

Different learning materials the students may use when they are enrolled in a Galileo Math or Singapore Math Program were also showcased.

One of the highpoints is an overview of the Singapore Math – one of the program offerings that Galileo is known for – a method that makes problem solving easy with the use of models and boxes.
