Parents urged to immunize children

ZAMBOANGA City Health Officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos has urged parents to have their children aged five years old and below immunized with anti-measles and anti-polio vaccines.

Agbulos made the call as the mass immunization against measles and polio started Monday and is set to end September 30.

The parents can bring their children to the health center in their community or to the nearest health facility to immunize them, he said.

Agbulos said children from nine months to 59 months will be immunized with measles-rubella vaccines, while children from birth to 59 months with Oral Polio Vaccine.

The mass immunization is a project of the Department of Health and is being held simultaneously nationwide.

The DOH is eyeing to immunize 104,719 children for measles-rubella vaccines and 122,931 children for OPV in Zamboanga City.

Agbulos assured they have enough vaccines for the immunization campaign in Zamboanga City. (Bong Garcia)
