Pasig lawmaker to grace BSU grad rites

PASIG City Representative Roman Romulo and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Mario Montejo will inspire the 1,335 graduates of Benguet State University on April 12.

Romulo is the chairperson of the Committee on Higher and Technical Education of the House of Representatives. He is also a member of the BSU Board of Regents.

Romulo will address graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Home Economics and Technology, College of Nursing and College of Teacher Education in the morning of April 12.

Montejo is a mechanical engineer by profession. He is a recipient of a gold medal for Creative Research from the Filipino Inventors Society Inc. for his automatic parking invention when he was president of Northwest Steel (NS Inc).

He is set to address graduates from the College of Agriculture, College of Engineering and Applied Technology, Institute of Human Kinetics, Graduate School and Open University in the afternoon of April 12.

The program for the graduates of diploma and certificate courses will be held on April 7, 9AM. The guest of honor and speaker is Robert Kuan, entrepreneur and governor of Rotary District 3830.

The Students’ Achievement and Recognition program will be held on April 11, 9 a.m. Dr. Mark Michael Palazo, BSU topnotcher in the veterinary medicine licensure examination in 2010, will serve as guest of honor.

All activities will be held in the University Gymnasium. The graduation rites will be video streamed in the Open Gym, so thatguests and relatives who will not be accommodated in the venue are able to view the event.

According to BSU president Ben Ladilad, the speakers were chosen because of experience, track record and current engagements.

He said they are champions in their respective fields. Ladilad added the university is always ready to assist its graduates. He wishes the graduates well and encourages them to have the will to achieve their dreams, stressing willpower is a primary ingredient to success. (PR)
