PDEA-Western Visayas to hire more agents

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Western Visayas has called for applicants for another batch of agents this year.

David Garcia, spokesperson of PDEA-Western Visayas, said in a phone interview they received a memorandum from the higher office last January 3 regarding the recruitment of 500 agents nationwide to serve as front liners in the war against illegal drugs.

Garcia said the region needs more agents who can maximize the supervision of an operation, however, he cannot say the specific figure yet.

At present, PDEA-Western Visayas has 40 agents.

Garcia said the higher office will equally divide the new agents to all regions once the recruitment and application process are finished.

“Once they pass the six-month training and other tests, they will be distributed to PDEA regional offices," he added.

Garcia said the higher office will check and deploy more agents based on the need of a regional office.

The PDEA academy is gearing up for the recruitment and selection of qualified applicants for the Drug Enforcement Officer Basic Course (DEOBC) Class 2018-12 and 2018-13.

PDEA is looking for men and women, aged 21 to 35 years old; at least 5’ (female) and 5’2” (male) in height; holder of a baccalaureate degree, career service professional eligible, board passer or qualified by the Civil Service Commission under Special Laws.

Applicants may send their letter of application addressed to PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino, NIA Northside Road, National Government Center, Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City.

Successful applicants will hold entry level position of Intelligence Officer I (IO1), a permanent item with Salary Grade 11.
