YVES Akol, secretary-general of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in Negros Island Region, said they are not monitoring the activities of Vice President Leni Robredo who is set to arrive in Bacolod City on December 17.
“That is democracy in practice and she is the elected vice president nothing wrong with that. Who am I to monitor her,” Akol said.
The vice president, who recently resigned from the Cabinet, will join the culmination program of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel.
It will be the first visit of Robredo to Negros Occidental and Bacolod since she was elected vice president.
Akol said the ruling party is “not conducting its own loyalty check.”
“President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is only answerable to the Filipino nation,” he added.
Akol made the statement amid reports that top officials of the Liberal Party will arrive in the province to check on their members.
