Pelco 1 conducts free circumcision

MEXICO, Pampanga -- The Pampanga 1 Electric Cooperative Inc. (Pelco 1) has conducted “Operation Big Birds,” a free-circumcision activity and one of the electric power firm’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.

The activity benefited 120 young boys from the towns of Arayat, Candaba, Magalang, Mexico, San Luis and Sta. Ana.

Aside from the free circumcision, Pelco 1 also distributed free medicines, such as antibiotics and pain relievers, to the beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries were likewise given a free seminar on circumcision, proper cleaning and personal hygiene, free snacks and transportation.

One of the parents said: "Pasalamat kami pung marakal keng Pelco 1 uling dininan na kami pung libring tuli ampong panulu at maragul ya pung saup kekami ini (We are profusely thanking Pelco 1 for giving us free circumcision and medicines which are of great help for us)."

Pelco 1 General Manager Loliano Allas said the activity is just one of the CSR projects of Pelco that benefit member-consumers of the electric cooperative.

The operation Big Birds was made successful through the assistance and participation of the University of the Assumption, College of Nursing, headed by its dean Anele C. Mallari and the Mexico Rural Health Unit 3 headed by Dr. Ernesto Regala, its rural health physician. (DPL)
