CAMP OLIVAS -- Chief Superintendent Raul Petrasanta welcomed the investigation of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on his alleged ownership of high-powered firearms.

Petrasanta, who allegedly has 900 AK-47 and M-16 rifles, said he will answer all queries being thrown against him in the proper forum.

CIDG Director Benjamin Magalong is conducting investigation on the alleged missing guns. Petrasanta, the region's police head, is a former chief of Firearms and Explosive Office in Camp Crame.

Other police officials being investigated by the CIDG are Director Gil Meneses of the Philippine National Police Civil Security Group, Chief Superintendent Tom Rentoy of the Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies, Senior Superintendent Regie Catiis of the Directorate for Comptrollership, and Senior Superintendent Eduardo Acierto Jr.

Meneses is also a former director of FEO, the report said.

A source in Camp Crame revealed that some senior police officers are trying to destroy the image of Petrasanta, who is being eyed as the next PNP chief. (Ric Sapnu)
