PH tchoukball teams to compete in Taiwan

THE Tchoukball Association of the Philippines (TAP) men and women’s teams will leave for Taiwan on August 7 to compete in the 2nd World Beach Tchoukball Championships scheduled on August 14 to 18 in Sunset Beach Resort, Kaohsiung City.

The 21-member team is headed by TAP and Asia-Pacific Tchoukball Federation president Raymund Jamelo; Elvira Jamelo, member of Federación Internacional de Tchoukball Executive Committee; lawyer Juliana Carbon, member of APTBF Executive Committee; team manager Reve Abelarde; team coordinator Jozel Maiko Brasileno; and team chaplain Jonie Brasileno.

Completing the women’s national squad are assistant coach-referee Corinth Chua from Cebu, players Nadine Julia Crisostomo (team captain), Mary Abelarde, Ashley Julienne Pedregosa, and Ivanna Aguilar from Bacolod City; and Hamida Kaylah Baluchi, Shenia Clarisse Tagarda, and Angel Therese Arapan from Butuan City.

In the men’s division are head coach-referee-player John Elray Jamelo, assistant coach-referee-player Benjie Oray, Rik Aldrei Despojo and Josiah Su of Bacolod City; Jasper Ray Tagarda from Butuan City; and Lee Tomas and Josiah Iñigo Yucoco of Manila.

Competing in this event are 14 teams in the men’s division and nine for the women’s side from Argentina, France, Czech Republic, Korea, Hongkong, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nepal, Macao, Poland, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, African Tchoukball Confederation (Uganda, Cameroon, Mauritius, Ghana, and Ivory Coast), Philippines and host-Taiwan.

Within the tournament schedule, the FITB general assembly will be held to be attended by 33-member countries.
