Philippine Air Force to recruit 680 soldiers, officers

THE Philippine Air force (PAF), the aerial warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, aims to recruit 600 soldiers and 80 officers nationwide to be trained in August to further boost their manpower resources and security capability.

“We're having air force qualifying exams designed for candidate soldiers and officer candidates. We're trying to recruit or get candidates as enlisted personnel and officers of PAF,” Lieutenant Colonel Maria Consuelo Nunag-Castillo, testing team head of the qualifying examination at the Davao City Tactical Operation Group, Old Airport, Sasa said.

In Davao Region, they expect around 500 examinees in the two-day recruitment activity that ends Wednesday, March 1.

Last year, they had a total number of 11,000 examinees nationwide while they expect 15,000 this year.

“It's a program naman talaga na (that) every year we recruit candidates soldiers and officers kasi siyempre meron ding mga nag-re-retire, merong mga nag-re-resign, meron ding mga unfit for the service so ni-replenish ang strength ng air force (since there are others who will retire, resign and unfit for the service, so we will replenish the strength of the air force),” she said.

Similar examinations were also held in Cagayan de Oro City, Zamboanga City, Baguio City and Clark. Next stop of the examinations is General Santos City before stopping in Metro Manila.

Basic military training for successful examinees will start on August 1 in Lipa City, Batangas.
