Photo Ops: Hope and faith

IT IS only the first month of 2018, but the feeling of resentment was immediately felt by the residents of Purok 1 Brgy. 40-D, Davao City, as their area was marked as permanent danger zone as they live right along the bank of Davao River.

The City Engineer's Office has assisted the residents to demolish their homes. A total of 150 houses were in the first batch for demolition, where residents agreed to voluntarily take down their homes.

Prior to the demolition, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said that the demolition was approved by the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP).

It hurts to lose a home, but the affected residents still managed to smile. There is hope in their eyes, the hope to rise again after losing their homes.

January is also the month of the Black Nazarene. Hundreds of devotees went to the San Pedro Cathedral on San Pedro St., Davao City, just to touch the image of the Nazarene believing that this can heal them as well as grant their wishes.

People of different ages coming from different places joined the celebration, their faith on the Black Nazarene uniting them.

It is just the first month of the year but in the midst of our life's events we must continue to maintain our confidence in God because He is the only one that will answer all of our prayers.
