REIGNING Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach confirmed that she's in a relationship with professional race car driver Marlon Stockinger.
In a television interview, the 27-year-old said she's happy to have finally met someone who understands her job and is supportive of what she does.
"I'm glad that I finally met somebody who's very secure with himself and who understands my job. And who's not afraid to let me have my moment such as right now, now that the competition is happening here," she said.
Wurtzbach added that aside from being both Filipino and Catholic, they also have a lot of other things in common. According to her, even those behind the Miss Universe Organization approve of Stockinger.
The beauty queen then described the professional race car driver as "very funny" and someone who always makes her laugh.
"He knows a lot of things about me that I probably shouldn't tell other people. But he's cool with it."
People started speculating about Wurtzbach and Stockinger's romance in September when they both posted photos with each other on their Instagram accounts.
Stockinger, in an interview, said "we're talking" when pressed on his closeness with the beauty queen.
Since then, the couple spent time together in every chance they get.
They met in Singapore in November and Wurtzbach joined Stockinger's family during the New Year in Hawaii.
Stockinger, 25, is born to a Filipino mother and Swiss businessman father. He is currently based in Zurich, Switzerland and racing as junior driver under the Lotus F1 team. (SunStar Philippines)
