PISD keeps volley title

DEFENDING champion Precious International School of Davao (PISD) high school boys team retain its title after beating St. Patrick Math Science School (SPMSS), 25-17, 25-18, in the finals of the recently-concluded Davao Association of Private Schools and Administration (Daprisa) Games 2017 held at the Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School (PNJKIS) Gym.

The PSID spikers, thus, booked a spot in the Davao City Athletic Association (Dcaa) Meet for the second straight year. They were eliminated in the city eliminations last year though.

Coach Dion Karlo Anthonee Capinpin, in a Facebook chat with SunStar Davao, said they will play one game at a time as they hope to reach the semifinals in Dcaa Meet this year.

He added that their target was to retain the Daprisa crown to qualify again in the city meet.

"I got the full commitment from our players. Everyone sacrificed to train during holidays and even their summer vacation. The players endured hard training but they never complained," Capinpin said.

PISD's Kristian Edgar Floresca was hailed as the most valuable player (MVP) while his teammates Rodan Asuncion (best libero), Matthew Bartolome (best setter) and Lorenzo Villalobos (best blocker) received special awards.

PISD also leaned on the services of Jeremiah Macadangdang, Angelo Nadela, Brian Babao, Harvey Beseril, FJ Ledesma, Adrian Ortiga, Kurt Bahan, James Camaganacan, Paolo Real, Franz Wamil, Lorenzo Villalobos and Michael Picardal.

Other special awardees were Domenic Lanaban (best open spiker) and Alfonoso Acapulco (best middle spiker) of SPMSS and Jimmy Alliwan as the best opposite spiker.
