PNJK-IS marks 25 years of excellent Filipino-Japanese brand of education

FROM its humble beginnings of having two classes with a total of only 14 students in 1992, the Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School (PNJK) has immensely grown and developed to be the institution that it is today.

The school is known for its trademark Filipino-Japanese education: it teaches the Filipino, English, as well as Nihongo and inculcates various positive Filipino and Japanese values unto its students.

PNJK-IS also showcases a mixture of the cultures of both the Philippines and Japan in notable festivities such as the Buwan ng Nutrisyon, Buwan ngWika, Intramurals and the Tanabata Matsuri (Star Festival), among others. Every October, the school celebrates the history, cultural heritage and friendship between the two countries by holding the Philippine-Japan Festival where students participate in various Philippine and Japan cultural lessons as well as dress up in their yukata to dance the traditional Japanese dance of Obon. The festival is open to the public.A citywide inter-school quiz bowl is held to cater academically inclined students from the different schools around the city, having had 17 participants from the different public and private high schools in the city during its last competition in 2015. Other contests of the said festival include Nihongo Speech and Singing Contest for Filipinos, Filipino Speech and Singing Contest for International students, J-POP Dance Competition, Cosplay, and Sumo Wrestling.

Being the most successful international school that specializes in the Japanese language in the country, the school aims to provide quality education in order to produce graduates who can contribute valuably to society.

PNJK-IS continuously develops its system of education; having built two new buildings in the past two years that are conducive for learning to cater its growing population, and hiring competent and licensed teachers who whole-heartedly impart lessons unto the Nikkeisians who are recognized locally, nationally and internationally for their well-roundedness and exemplary achievements in academics, arts and sports.
