PNP retrains security forces for Miss Universe events

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has started the security preparations for the Miss Universe coronation night to be held in Manila in January of 2017, a police official said Wednesday.

PNP spokesperson Dionardo Carlos said police forces who will be assigned to secure the said event are now undergoing retraining.

"Ang preparation po natin, the security officers are undergoing retraining, refresher," he said.

However, he is not yet certain on how many police forces will be deployed to secure the event.

Carlos said that aside from training the security officers, the PNP is also conducting security survey at the event venue to assure the security of the candidates as well as the public who will be watching the coronation night.

They will also be providing security to the candidates, some of whom had already started arriving in December to go around the country as part of the pre-pageant activities.

Last week, Miss New Zealand Tania Pauline Dawson and Miss USA Deshauna Barber along with several Miss Universe officials arrived in the country for the kick off of the 65th Miss Universe Pageant.

Side events of the Miss Universe will be held in several provinces, while the coronation night will took place on January 30 at the Mall of Asia Area in Pasay City. (Sunnex)
