Police arrest illegal loggers

FLORIDABLANCA, Pampanga -- Three alleged illegal loggers were arrested by policemen in a checkpoint along Barangay Consuelo, here, Sunday.

Superintendent Jhoana Rosales, chief of police of the town, said while her personnel were conducting checkpoint operations at the said barangay, flagged down a passenger jeepney with license plate number CWW-992.

When inspected, Rosales said the vehicle was loaded with 30 pieces of cut logs of eucalyptus trees valued at P30,000.

The cut logs don’t have the corresponding permit for transport.

This prompted the policemen to arrest Jonathan Simbol, 32, and Juan Sicat Bautista, 42, both of Sasmuan town; and Romel Bacani, 28, a resident of Barangay Pabanlag, Floridablanca town.

Rosales said the three arrested persons are presently detained at the Floridablanca Police Station while appropriate charges being readied in court against them.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono, Jr., Pampanga police provincial director, commended the Floridablanca Police Station for their accomplishment and for their effective checkpoint operations.
