THE Police Regional Office-Western Visayas urged residents in the region, including Negros Occidental and Bacolod City, to remain vigilant as the observance of the Undas 2017 continues until Thursday, November 2
“We are continuously appealing to the community for vigilance and cooperation to ensure a peaceful, and orderly Undas 2017,” Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, spokesperson of PRO-Western Visayas, said in a text message.
He said the PRO-Western Visayas is on full alert status until November 2, and all policemen are deployed in their respective assignments until then.
Gorero said they aim to have zero major incidents.
He added that all unit commanders established route safety marshals along the highways and put up police assistance desks in terminals, churches, cemeteries, ports, and shopping malls.
Gorero also told policemen to have respect for human rights and to strictly observe police operational procedures.
In Bacolod City, security forces were deployed in all entry and exit points for the observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Soul's Day.
Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said 311 policemen were assigned in cemeteries, sea ports, shopping malls, and other areas of convergence for November 1 and 2.
Chief Inspector Lester Leada, deputy chief for operations of BCPO, said policemen have been assigned to secure those visiting the 12 public and private cemeteries across the city.
Aside from the more than 600 personnel of BCPO, Leada said they also sought assistance from about 600 force multipliers and volunteer groups in the villages.
Each of the 10 police stations also set up assistance desks.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) also went on full alert for the observance of the occasions on November 1 and 2.
Inspector Charmae De Paz, public information officer of NOCPPO, said in a press statement security and deployment plans were laid out among city and municipal police stations in the province.
