Police: Death of 2 cab drivers not linked

BAGUIO City Police Director Ramil Saculles said the death of two cab drivers are not linked.

Saculles said initial evidence have not established links to the two incidents though both drivers were killed in the same modus.

The second cab driver, Roberto Agram Albino, died August 19 along Marcos Highway in Sitio Badiwan in Tuba town.

Police investigation showed Albino was found lifeless by a security guard from a nearby compound slumped on the wheel. Residents were alerted to the continuous blowing of the horn of a Rios Kia Taxi with the plate number AYS 992.

Personnel of Tuba Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Tuba EMS responded to the crime scene but were unable to save Albino.

Albino sustained a lone stab wound to his lower right neck, however, his personal belongings and cash collections were still intact.

Coordination was made to Benguet Crime lab and Scene of the Crime Operatives while personnel of Tuba MPS conducted follow-up operation for possible arrest of the suspect.

On August 18, taxi driver Angel Umali Sarmiento also died after thieves looted his daily earnings and left him for dead along Asin Road, Baguio City.

Sarmiento suffered from several stab wounds after he was held up by still unidentified suspects, August 18, in Mulberry Alley.

Residents were able to call the police who went to the crime scene.

Saculles said a task force has been formed to investigate the death of the cab drivers.
