Police: Mother sexually exploiting son ‘alarming’

A POLICE official described the 24-year-old mother's sexual exploitation of her three-year-old son as alarming.

Senior Superintendent Romeo Perigo, the Women and Children's Protection Center-Visayas Field Unit chief, said the mother should nurture her son, not offer him to online pedophilia through live streaming from their home.

"The boy had no knowledge of what was his mother was doing to him," Perigo said in Cebuano.

The boy was rescued on Monday afternoon, February 26, in Barangay Looc, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

Perigo said the boy cried when he was separated from his mother, who will face qualified trafficking and child pornography charges on Wednesday, February 28.

WCPC carried out the entrapment with Lapu-Lapu City WCP Desk, Lapu-Lapu Special Weapons and Tactics team, personnel of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Group 7, Department of Social Welfare and Development 7, and International Justice Mission. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
