THE Manila Police District (MPD) identified Tuesday a fourth suspect in the foiled bomb attack near the United States Embassy in Manila last November 28.

MPD director Senior Superintendent Joel Coronel identified the fourth suspect as Elmer Romero, also known as Jamal, who was arrested in Barangay Mangan-Vaca, Subic, Zambales on December 7.

Authorities earlier arrested three suspects, namely Rashid Kilala, Jiaher Guinar, and Mohammad Jumao-as.

They are members of rebel group Ansar al-Khilafah.

Coronel said Romero took part in identifying where to plant the improvised explosive device.

He said Romero’s arrest led to the discovery of another IED in Doña Juanita Subdivision in Bulakan, Bulacan, near where Jumao-as was arrested.

“Initially he denied participation, but later on when he was confronted with the other suspects, he admitted participation,” Coronel said.

He said they are now pursuing two more suspects.

On November 28, a street sweeper found an IED inside a trash bin along the south bound lane of Roxas Boulevard, near the US embassy. (Sunnex)
