Police probe murder of Nueva Ecija guv’s staff

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Police Regional Office-Central Luzon director Amador Corpus on Monday ordered for a thorough investigation and deeper probe on the killing of a Nueva Ecija provincial government employee on Sunday, January 14.

The victim identified as Mary Anne Hernandez, 38, was reportedly shot dead by two unidentified gunmen, while her husband Carlito Hernandez, 43, was severely injured in the incident that transpired in a gas station in Barangay Marcos, Talavera, Nueva Ecija.

Chief Superintendent Corpus said the victims were onboard their private vehicle when the motorcycle-riding gunmen fired at them, killing Mary Anne.

Mary Anne was identified as a government employee and the secretary of Nueva Ecija Governor Czarina Umali, said Corpus.

“Special Investigation Task Group Hernandez was immediately created by the Nueva Ecija Provincial Police headed by Director Senior Superintendent Eliseo Tanding for the speedy identification and apprehension of the suspects as well as protection of the husband and other family members of the victim.

“We will exert all our efforts and look into the bottom of this,” Corpus said. He also asked for the assistance of the general public while the investigation is ongoing, and sought the support in maintaining the safety and security of communities there.
