Police probe series of kidnap-rape cases

MEXICO -- Local authorities are now investigating a series of abduction and rape cases which are threatening the lady residents of this town.

This was learned from this town police chief Superintendent Wilfredo Paulo of cases orchestrated by still unknown suspects.

Paulo said that a 14-year-old student came to their office recently to report how she was victimized.

The suspects, who were wearing bonnets, allegedly abducted and raped the victim who was on her way home from school before the incident.

The local police recorded three similar incidents from October 2015 to November 2016, Paulo said.

“Hindi siya agad nakapagsumbong dito sa ating istasyon dahil raw sa takot at dala na rin siguro ng trauma (She wasn't able to come to our station because of fear and trauma),” Paulo said, adding that the victim has already stopped schooling due to fear that the incident might happen again.

Paulo said the victim's medical certificate affirmed that she was raped.

The two other victims, a 15-year-old and a 35-year-old, were also reportedly victimized with the same modus operandi.

The two victims, whose names were withheld, were also abducted on January and February this year, and were brought into a meadow and assaulted sexually.

A nine-year-old boy was also reportedly abducted this March but managed to escape.

Paulo said they verifying if the cases are connected with each other and performed by the same person or group.

He said they recently arrested a minor who is suspected to be part of the crime plaguing their town.

"Mayroon po tayong suspect na na-identify kaya lang ang problema natin minor. Pagkatapos ayaw pa niya magsalita. Hindi po natin pwedeng pilitin (We identified a suspect but he's a minor. He doesn't even talk. We can't force him)," he said.
