Police probe teen’s motive in killing own grandmother

THE Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of La Carlota City Police Station in Negros Occidental is probing the motive of a female teenager in killing her grandmother in Barangay San Miguel last week.

Police Officer 3 Nineveh Mallorca of WCPD said they want to determine the suspect’s reason for committing the crime.

Both the names of the 52-year-old victim and the 17-year-old suspect are withheld by the police.

Mallorca said the suspect has been tasked to take care of her grandmother who lives adjacent to their house.

Ten days ago, the minor-suspect stabbed her grandmother to death at her house.

The victim was found dead by the suspect's younger sister.

Mallorca said both had no arguments or conflict prior to the incident.

Even her family does not know the reason why she did it, she added.

Mallorca said the suspect has been “possessed” previously based on the statement of her family.

She is now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and will undergo medical examination.
