Police to donate drugs to PNP hospital

NOT Nubain? We’ll donate it to the hospital.

After confirmation that they were not illegal drugs, the 799 vials of Ranitidine-Ranitac can be donated to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Hospital, said Senior Insp. Dexter Basirgo.

Kung wala gyuy mo-claim ana, ato nang himoan og endorsement unya atong I-donate sa atong hospital (If no one will claim the medicines, we’ll make an endorsement and donate them to our hospital),” Basirgo said.

As of press time, no one claimed the medicines from the Parian Police Station.

The vials of drugs initially believed to be Nubain were tested in the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory, which said they don’t contain any substance that is considered dangerous.

Ampoules

The station submitted four 2ml glass ampoules to the crime lab for testing.

The package containing 70 boxes was surrendered by an unidentified man to the barangay tanods of Kamagayan last Sunday morning.

The man dumped the packaged in front of the barangay tanods’ post at the V-hire terminal in Kamagayan after saying, “Sir, wa koy labot ana (Sir, I’m not involved in that).”

Basirgo said the package may have been left behind by a medical representative in the terminal and stolen from the back of a van.

The one who got it might have realized it doesn’t contain Nubain, so he turned it over to the tanods, the Parian chief said.

The vials were identified as Ranitidine under the brand name Ranitac, a medication for ulcer and hyperacidity.

According to Basirgo, Nubain is a crystal-clear liquid, while the abandoned ampoules contained a rusty-colored substance.

He said Barangay Kamagayan is the distribution point of pushers who sell Nubain to clients who preferred the injectable drug to shabu.
