Porac mayor won’t retire from politics yet

PORAC town Mayor Condralito dela Cruz is not about to turn his back on politics and if in case there is no shift into a different form of government in 2019, the three term mayor said he will keep his options open.

Dela Cruz said that he will keep his options open for another try at local politics. Dela Cruz said that it would be difficult to ignore the call of the people to serve.

He added that while it would be his personal wish, and that of his wife that he should retire from politics, different sectors have been urging him to push further. Dela Cruz served as municipal councilor and later as vice-mayor before he ran as municipal mayor.

“It would be very difficult to say no to the people,” Dela Cruz said.

Dela Cruz had been rumored to run for a municipal post in 2019 or at least bat for a political position as provincial board member for Pampanga’s second district.

He had won the mayoralty race with Vice Mayor Dexter David in the 2016 polls against former Board Member Mike Tapang and former mayor Roger Santos.

David is expected by most to succeed Dela Cruz as municipal mayor.

Under both Dela Cruz and David, Porac town was a passer of the Seal of Good Housekeeping in 2012 and later the Seal of Good Local Governance in 2014 and 2017.
