Port personnel undergo basic life support training

THE Port of Zamboanga personnel have undergone a two-day training on basic life support to equip them with emergency and first aid knowledge.

The training, which was conducted by the Department of Health, started on Wednesday, November 23 and ended Thursday, November 24.

Samuel Simon, president of Zamboanga City Integrated Port Services, Inc. (ZCIPSI), said those who undergone the training are ZCIPSI employees and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) personnel.

Simon said the training is to equip the participants the knowledge on first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

He said this is part of ZCIPSI’s safety program since they are dealing with people coming in and out at the local port on a daily basis.

He said they can respond and render first aid in case accidents occur inside the local port.

The PPA has contracted the services of ZCIPSI to handle in-bound and out-bound cargoes as well as the management of the passenger terminal building.

The Port of Zamboanga serves thousands of passenger daily as well as high volume of cargoes. (Bong Garcia)
