Prayer rally for fallen cops moved to Aug. 9

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) moved from Tuesday to Wednesday, August 9, the prayer rally for the six fallen policemen who were ambushed by the New People’s Army (NPA) in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental last July 21.

Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, acting director of BCPO, said on Monday they changed the schedule due to some appointments of the police on Tuesday, August 8.

The candle-lighting rites and prayer rally will be officiated by Pastor Enrique Cansino at the police headquarters on Magsaysay Avenue, starting 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Students, barangay officials, and Mayor Evelio Leonardia will join the activity.

The six fallen policemen included Superintendent Arnel Arpon, Senior Police Officer 2 Mecasio Tabilon, Senior Police Officer 2 Teovic Agosto, Senior Police Officer 1 Jesael Ancheta, Police Officer 2 Alvin Paul Bulandres, and Police Officer 2 Alfredo Dunque.

They were killed in action when they responded to Guihulngan City Councilor Edison de la Rita’s call for police assistance after he was attacked by the rebels.

Arpon was buried in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental last Saturday while the five others were laid to rest in their hometowns in Negros Oriental.
