PRDP approves 77 micro-enterprise proposals in Central Luzon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Regional Project Advisory Board of the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) recently approved a total of 77 micro-enterprise proposals amounting to P109 million.

These fall under the Enterprise Development Component or I-Reap of PRDP which aims to engage different capable proponent groups (PG) in the region in the production of profit-making surplus through investments in strategic segments of priority commodity value chains prioritized by Regional Agriculture and Fishery Modernization Plan and the Provincial Commodity Investment Plans.

“These approved I-Reap proposals, in general, would provide sustainable income-generating activities to PG members that would help them recover from the losses in farming due natural calamities,” Department of Agriculture Regional Technical Director and PRDP Regional Project Coordination Office Focal Person Crispulo Bautista, Jr. said.

“Majority or 58 of the approved micro-enterprises are into farm machinery services which aim to provide lower cost land preparation services such as plowing, harrowing and leveling to members and non-members,” Bautista added.

Others include irrigation facility projects and production and marketing projects for vegetables, free range chicken, spawn, cattle and goat, among others.

PRDP is a six-year national project that aims to establish a modern, inclusive, value chain-oriented and climate-resilient agri-fisheries sector. (PR)
