Preacher dies, wife survives in gun attack

A PREACHER was killed while his wife survived in a gun attack in Zamboanga Sibugay, the police said Tuesday, December 20.

Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula spokesman Rogelio Alabata identified the fatality as Canoy Ligot, 35, a pastor of the Alliance Church.

Ligot’s wife, Cherry Ann, was unscathed during the gun attack that took place around 7:55 a.m. Monday at Sitio Matanog in the village of Dalangin, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Alabata said Ligot was driving a motorcycle with his wife when they were shot by one of the two unidentified men riding in tandem on another motorcycle that tailed them.

He said the victim-preacher and his wife were traveling to downtown Titay at the time of the incident.

The motive of the incident is believed to be personal grudge, Alabata said. (Sunnex)
