THE Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 is planning to create a task force that will address crime in Metro Cebu.
Senior Supt. Edward Carranza, PRO 7’s directorial staff chief, said the plan was made based on the suggestion of the Cebu Bankers’ Club during their monthly meeting.
“Based on the report of our police commanders, criminals just passed from one place to another,” Carranza said.
The task force will look into major crime incidents in Metro Cebu. This will cover the area from Consolacion in the north to Talisay City in the south.
Communication
“Through this, we can easily communicate with different police units as the communication line will be accessible,” Carranza said.
The unit will be called Task Force Metro Cebu, although the name is not yet final.
Issues
Bank robberies, Carranza said, were one of the issues that were taken up during their meeting with Cebu Bankers’ Club.
“We want to address these problems through faster response,” he said. “In case a bank gets robbed, all bank members must also be alerted.”
Inputs
Carranza said he already advised the operations officers of PRO 7 to get inputs from police directors.
The task force commander, he said, will probably be Senior Supt. Conrado Capa, PRO 7’s deputy regional director for operations.
“He is in control of all operational activities in PRO 7,” Carranza said.
The members of the unit will be from PRO 7’s operations division, as well as from intelligence division, quad staff and area commanders.
